Real Madrid will sign new players in January on only one condition – report

The long-term injury of Dani Carvajal has stirred the pot at Real Madrid, with the club facing calls to reinforce their ranks in defence.

The veteran right-back will be out for a year after picking up an ACL injury, thereby further limiting Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive options.

This has led many to believe Real Madrid would break the bank for a new signing in January, with Trent Alexander-Arnold emerging as a potential option.

However, Real Madrid have remained steadfast and do not intend to sign any new players in January, despite the recent injuries.

Real Madrid’s only condition for January signings

A recent report from Jose Luis Sanchez (h/t Madrid Zone) has affirmed that Real Madrid indeed have no intention to sign any new players in the winter transfer window.

But Sanchez adds that the reigning European champions may consider signing new players if the team encounters ‘another disaster’.

This essentially means Real Madrid will not consider any new signings until another top player picks up an injury.

Total confidence in current options

Despite the injury to Carvajal, it must be noted that Carlo Ancelotti has a lot of options up his sleeves, as he looks to find an immediate alternative.

Real Madrid, for their part, retain trust in Lucas Vazquez, who is likely to serve as the immediate replacement for Carvajal.

Should Vazquez fail to live up to the expectations, Real Madrid believe Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger can easily cover the position, with even Federico Valverde emerging as an option.

Ancelotti is keeping an eye on a few youth talents as well, including former Atletico Madrid prodigy Jesus Fortea.
