Arda Guler was thought to be one of the major beneficiaries of Real Madrid’s injury crisis in midfield, earlier in the season.
With Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Brahim Diaz and Dani Ceballos all being out at one point, many expected Guler to receive a lot of game-time under Carlo Ancelotti.
However, the reality has been quite different. In the 12 matches so far this season, the Turk has started only thrice. He has racked up just over 250 minutes of competitive action.
Guler frustrated with Ancelotti
In light of his lack of opportunities at Real Madrid, Guler has grown frustrated with Ancelotti and is considering his future at the club, reports SPORT.
Although Guler has not been disappointed whenever called upon, his performances have not satisfied Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian wants more defensive output from all his players and to that end, he does consider Guler’s performances sufficient.
Ancelotti has also complained about Guler’s lack of intensity in training multiple times, often urging him to offer more in the field.
What’s next for Guler?
This has left Guler frustrated. As per the report, the Turkish international is not happy at Real Madrid and could consider an exit in the near future.
Guler has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid in the past. Many even expected the playmaker to leave the club on loan in the summer, especially after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick.
It is further claimed that Guler may consider handing in a loan or a transfer request, in an attempt to find more game-time elsewhere.
But until that happens, it will be interesting to see whether or not the player’s fate changes after the international break.
