Report: €25 million-rated Real Madrid star all set to leave this summer

Journalist Carlos Carpio has confirmed that Andriy Lunin will be leaving Real Madrid this summer and the club has decided that he will not be staying, but they have made themselves clear that he won’t leave for cheap.

Lunin’s future with Real Madrid has been uncertain due to his own wishes. While the club is willing to extend Lunin’s current contract, which ends in 2025, he does not want to continue playing as the backup to Thibaut Courtois.

However, to add to the misery, his agent, Jorge Mendes, has not been helpful in the renewal talks either. This is because Real Madrid have had disagreements with Jorge Mendes recently over Leny Yoro.

Lunin wants more game time

If Lunin decides to leave, Real Madrid will not stop him. However, they have told him that he needs to bring substantial offers for them to consider and the club has set a price tag of €30 million for the goalkeeper.

Right now, it is no secret that Lunin is eager to move out of Thibaut Courtois’ shadow and is looking at various options since he knows the Belgium international will be Madrid’s unassailable stater next season.

It has been suggested in the past several Premier League teams have shown interest, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool. However, no team has come up with an actual offer.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are not in a hurry to resolve Lunin’s situation. They know that he might choose to run down his contract and leave for free next year.

Hence, their strategy is to sell Lunin and spend minimally on his replacement. They plan to bring back Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea, avoiding the need to sign a young goalkeeper.

Interestingly, it has been learned that Kepa, who has turned down a lucrative offer from the Saudi League, is keen on returning to Real Madrid and has made his intentions clear to those interested in his services.
